Isolation Monologue

(unedited)

the reality of why we enjoy holidays so much  is because there is an ending, at some point we have to go home and get back to our normal lives, our boring 9 to 5 jobs so every day we spend in paradise we make an effort to live that day to the fullest and here i am, honeymoon At a five-star resort, in the Maldives with the love of my life, also day 53 of isolation and I guess you can say the “honeymoon period” is ending soon... except it isn’t and spending every waking moment with “the love of my life” is driving me crazy, except it isn’t either because we can’t drive anywhere because we’re stuck on an island, unable to leave so. Even if we did have a car... haha, you get the picture, the beautiful sea has turned to bars trapping us on this island, the morning breeze has become suffocating and the staff waiting on us hand and foot are starting to look a lot like guards. In conclusion this garden of Eden has turned into a Alcatraz and worst of all the man I am meant to spend the rest of my life with is undeniably the most annoying man to ever walk this planet. you think you love someone but then you’re told that all planes and ships have been grounded, the truth is that we don’t spend enough time to know if we truly love them. we don’t spend enough time to know if we’re truly ready for marriage. hmm, it’s sad isn’t it? this honeymoon has gone from bad to worst...

How does the representation of people of colour in the media affect society? The media is an agent of socialisation; it is not often recognised how much of an impact it has on individuals . There are people part of society that are privileged enough to grow up seeing people that look like them and can relate to them on their screens. These individuals, they come in contact with a world that they are somewhat familiar with, they develop goals, aspirations and dreams knowing that it is possible to achieve them, simply because they have seen a “reflection” of themselves do so. The portrayal of people of colour in the media has altered the perception of individuals in society, depending on your racial identity you will (consciously or subconsciously), not only view the world differently but you will also receive the world differently and be treated differently.   I will be looking at both the negative and positive effects that the representation of people of colour have in society. ...

Developing Performance and Production Skills

The making of  "A Questmas Story" It all started with a brainstorm. What skills would we like to develop? Do we want to do an actual play like A Christmas Carol or do we want to create and write our own play? What do we want to do? The class leaned in the direction of creating our own Christmas play. We got into groups and further discussed what kind of play we could create, a recurring theme in each group seemed to be the idea that Christmas is banned. Idea During my groups brainstorm, I suggested that everyone in our group of five should have a character and each character will go through events that relate to Christmas. As a group we decided these characters should be slightly younger than us (15-17). Scene 1, the first child sees the birth of Jesus, Scene 2, the second Child sees a historical event that happened on Christmas day, Scene 3, the third Child sees Christmas day in the present day, Scene 4, the fourth Child sees a Christmas movie or a Christmas special on ...
